What We're All About
Becoming a mom can be one of life's hardest transitions. The joys of motherhood is often coupled with feelings of isolation and self doubt.
The Caring Space brings moms together in the Iowa City area to educate, support and build a lasting community. The group will meet for 75 minute sessions once a week for 6 weeks. Every session is led by a mental health professional, and themed with a different topic to serve as a jumping off point for discussions and further connection.
The Caring Space meets every mother where they are in their unique journey. Whether it’s celebrating the joys and firsts, or holding space for the hardships and challenges. Your group is a place of solidarity, mental health and motherhood, and will serve as an anchor in what sometimes feels like tumultuous seas.
Join us as we gather to create a caring space for you and your baby.
The mom behind The Caring Space
Elizabeth has her masters degree in Social Work and has been a practicing Independent Level Social Worker for the past 8 years. Before moving to Iowa City, Elizabeth lived in the DC area and more recently in Los Angeles, where she worked as a school counselor in Early Childhood education. Elizabeth has enjoyed supporting parents in building nurturing relationships with their children and feeling confident with handling parenting’s many ups and downs.
When Elizabeth’s daughter was born three years ago, she found the support she received from a new mother’s group to be the most rewarding and important experience during new motherhood. It is this passion and experience that has inspired her to start The Caring Space.
